Lauren Mascitti
Personal Bio

Ok, just to break the ice a little bit, I'll let you in on a few things about me:

- I am a PROUD Italian (hence my last name which is pronounced "Ma-set-ey" and rhymes with "spaghetti") and I'm not afraid to remind you of that multiple times during conversation, capiche?!?! hehe ^_^

- I'm even more proud to be a Christian, no rock is gonna cry out in my place!

- My favorite color is pink, therefore I believe that everyones favorite color should be pink. If your favorite color is not pink, I will convert you... (because I'm Italian)

- My fav animal is a cat. Lions, tigers, domestic cats, the whole shebang (I have a siamese cat named Measha, I wuv her!)

- Favorite food is pizza. Least favorite food is beets. If food on my plate EVER touches, the world will come to an end...just FYI.

- If I could go anywhere in the world, it would be Italy (duh)

- I was raised by my wonderful Nana and Papaw and I consider myself one of the most blessed people in the world because of it! I could not have asked for better or more loving parents (psst, I'm Italian!)

- I was raised in, and still go to my awesome shoutin' church, Trinity Gospel Temple. Cheryl Jamison (my first vocal coach) started giving me voice lessons in the church when I was 7 and her husband, Terry, recorded my first album when I was 8. Their fingerprints are all over my career. I am now head of praise and worship in the youth group, so if you're in the area, come on out!

- Right now I'm in nursing school learning how to save your life. You're welcome...

- People ask me all the time "What do you do for fun? And it can't be music related." People, music IS my fun! My favorite thing in the world is to be around great musicians, talking theory, learning different improv techniques, and discovering cool-sounding chord progressions. That's exactly what my mastermind of a guitar/mandolin/ everything-else teacher (Rick Troyer of "Hummingbird Music Studio" in Sugarcreek, OH) and I do at my lessons and I don't think I could have a better time...unless I'm performing at the Opry. That's definitely a good time :) My idea of fun is also hangin out with my vocal coach and producer (who I've been with since I was 12 and is like a 2nd mother to me), Jana King Evans. This girl has sung with everybody who is somebody! It's cool experimenting with new sounds, textures, and colors of voice for different songs.

- I've been asked many times in interviews who I would most want to collaborate with and my answer is ALWAYS Vince Gill. Amazing voice, amazing musician, amazing writer, amazing performer, and amazing person. Vince, if you're reading this, I better be getting a call!!

- My favorite female vocalist is Dawn Sears of the Nashville-based Texas swing band "The Time Jumpers". You should check her out...after you check out my page of course :D

- Favorite male vocalist: See "Vince Gill" explaination above ^^^

- For my favorite country group, I would definitely have to say Little Big Town. Lots of swampy delta blues, love it!
- I AM-O ITALIANO

- My favorite bluegrass/alternative groups are wayyy too many to count, but a few are Nickel Creek, Cherryholmes, Lonesome River Band, and the Punch Brothers. The musicians in these groups are masters at their craft and their styles are uniquely theirs.

- My fav instruments are dobro and mandolin, so my favorite musicians would obviously have to be Jerry Douglas and Chris Thile (P.S.- Chris, call me anytime...ANYTIME)

- Matraca Berg is my favorite songwriter. She is a master at painting a picture of the song and telling the story. Her song "Dreaming Fields" is literally a work of art

- Alllllrighty then, I'm done with my silly little personal bio. Thanks for reading it all the way through, I'm sure you're one of few...hey, that rhymed!!! Go songwriter....
